If you've caught a glimpse at the October issue of Martha Stewart's magazine, it's not just the Halloween cookies that might catch your eye – check out Martha's face! It's hard to think of Martha Stewart turning 70, yet she recently hit this milestone.
The OC Register asks whether her appearance on the Halloween cover is thanks to Photoshop or a surgical fix. The newspaper showed the photo, along with others taken of Stewart over the past decade, to several dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons. While they had various opinions about her appearance, the consensus was that she's had at least a little work done.
The doctors disagree about how much Stewart has changed her face through surgery. Dr. Edward Jonas Domanskin, an assistant clinical professor at University of California, says it's likely a combination of photo editing and cosmetic work: "Yes, Martha has been Photoshopped but she looks very good in person also... She does not appear to have had much, if any, plastic surgery. She could have a forehead lift as well as blepharoplasty [eyelid lifts] ... her lips are thin. She shows that one doesn't need plastic surgery to be attractive at her age!"
Dr. David Sire, a cosmetic dermatologists, notes that makeup and photography tricks can make it difficult to discern whether celebrities have had plastic surgery. Yet, he says, "It appears that she has had a facelift... There is a dramatic difference to the chin and cheek area."
Dermatologist Dr. Lorrie Klein says Stewart's appearance is likely due to laser treatments, filler injections, or other non-surgical procedures. Other doctors think she's had even more work done. Dr. Michael Persky, a facial plastic surgeon, says "Ms. Stewart has undergone a rejuvenate transformation between 2004 and 2011." Even taking into account the effects of Photoshop, he says "Then she has had a face/neck lift, blepharoplasty, facial fillers, and laser skin rejuvenation ... at the least.'"
