R.I.P. Whitney Houston – Pop Diva

Wow.  Hard to believe Whitney Houston has died.  At the time of this writing the cause of her unfortunate death is unknown.  With her history of drug and alcohol abuse, an overdose is a likely culprit.  Such a sad situation.

Why do so many Hollywood stars have problems with drugs?  If she’s suffered a fatal overdose, Houston is just the first in a long line of victims.  Belushi, Farley, Heath Ledger, River Phoenix.  Are people with supreme talent more susceptible to the effects of drugs?  Or do some Hollywood stars lead such tortured lives that illicit drug use is their only escape?  Or are they so coddled and surrounded by ‘yes’ men that their own growing narcissism causes them to push an envelope that most people wouldn’t?

I was a big fan of Whitney Houston while in high school.  I listened to my cassette tape of “Whitney” until it wore out and watched her videos over and over again.

Now The Voice is silent.

Rest in peace, Whitney.
