Tip rhinoplasty

Often, those considering undergoing rhinoplasty only want the surgeon to change part of their nose, rather than completely resculpting their nose into a new shape. Frequently, patients request to only have changes to their nose tip. They may feel that the bulbous tip of their nose is too large for their face, for example. Or, they may want a tip that is more upturned. Another concern is straightening a nose tip that is bent or crooked. Tip rhinoplasty refers to nose job surgeries that focus on reshaping the tip of the nose.

During tip rhinoplasty, the surgeon may change the height, angle, volume, or contours of the nasal tip. This procedure can be simple or very complex depending on the patient's features and the desired correction. Excess tissues can be trimmed away, or the nose tip can be built up with cartilage grafts. When the tip is to be reduced in size, the surgeon must be careful not to remove too much tissue, which can result in a pinched appearance, and in severe cases, in the collapse of the nasal structure, which can cause breathing difficulties.

The tip of the nose is a small yet complex part of the nose. A minuscule change in the shape, volume, and angles of the nose tip can have a substantial impact on the patient's facial appearance. Because of this, it is important to communicate with your surgeon ahead of time so that the surgeon sculpts the nose tip in a way that you will be happy with.
